2023-Current. New York University.
Tisch School of the Arts - Drama Dept. Technology Leadership.

Provide hands-on technology leadership after the IT head of 8 years resigned. Position had been vacant for six months and the department’s technology was failing, both backend and user side. I quickly audited all pain points, including fragmented macOS endpoint support, failing FileMaker db services, disorganized Adobe CC licensing / distro processes, and a critical department website that nobody liked (therefore nobody used). In just the first seven months I upgraded-relicensed and rebuilt the FileMaker services (back and front), established more efficient macOS endpoint support, redesigned-rebuilt the department’s website to rave reviews (WordPress), and streamlined Adobe CC licensing and bistro process. In addition I hired and trained new department technology assistants to bolster my efforts and keep technology services consistent. Lastly, I introduced technology education services for a faculty and staff whose tech knowledge varies from “I got this.” to “I hate technology. I’m not using this.”

2022. Gap Year.

It’s just as important to bring life-enriching experiences to a position in addition to raw skill sets. As the pandemic began to cool in 2022 I decided to take a gap year and dive into other passions, as well as travel internationally (Lisbon, London, Paris, Seoul). Having never been fired or laid off my entire career, it was the first time in my professional life I did not work for more than three weeks. The result was a more global perspective on the technology industry and a full personal recharge; a more energized, focused vision for my career.

2014-21. As a Consultant.

Paid nation-wide subject matter expert and technology researcher via SME portals zintro.com and maven.co. Expert white paper authoring and conference call consulting on subjects ranging from Apple technologies in the enterprise arena, media data storage, media/digital asset management and workflow.

(2017-2018) One year project. Applied my broad Apple SME skills in an ITIL environment with Swiss bank UBS in collaboration with leadership in London HQ to build in-house tech support “bars” at U.S. locations modeled after Apple Genius Bars, with an emphasis on supporting BYOD strategies, mobile device support, employee remote office technologies (Citrix, VMWare), all wrapped in an employee education program emphasizing ease of use and data security. Interacted with and personally provided white-glove support for senior VIP. The regional go-to I.T. lead on all things Apple and trained IT staff on Apple systems architecture, management and fixes. Was appointed lead public presenter for UBS technology initiative forums.

(2014 - 2016) Consulting for Prudential Financial, Emerging Pictures, 20 Year Media and others. Projects range from technology support to guiding a business on best video editing architecture and workflow methods including Adobe Creative Cloud management, media asset storage and media management technologies as well as network design and workflow management for media/creative tech environments. Build relationships with and managed third-party vendors.

2011 - 2013. Technology Lead.
One Kings Lane. New York City.
Head Of East Coast Operations.

Enterprise technology leader and broad technology project manager for industry leading flash sales site. Provided leadership for the full east coast operations while in constant collaboration with San Francisco team leaders. Responsible for the support of 450+ geo-dispersed macOS systems. My improvement projects included seeing the need for and providing leadership in digital/media asset management technologies, collaborating on the implementation of Apple mobile device management and MDM security integration combining Centrify with MacOS Profile Server (10.x.x), leading various teams to improve inter-department workflows, introduced new technologies to facilitate robust cross-country video conferencing (LifeSize, BlueJeans, Google, etc.). Designed and built and maintained specialized digi-photo capture/ingest workstations (MacOS, CaptureOne Pro). Managed systems/hardware life cycles. Built and maintaining relationships with third-party technology vendors. In addition, I was the point person for introducing specialized creative department production workflow and content/digital asset management. I lead the charge in introducing project management concepts and practices to One Kings Lane and was the lead project manager on One Kings Lane’s massive 2012-2013 infrastructure expansion to additional office space in downtown New York. Lastly, I immediately took the lead in managing One Kings Lane’s east coast technology disaster recovery procedures before, during, and after hurricane Sandy.

2009 – 2011. Designed/built/supported the following professional macOS based photo journalist studios.

The following studios were built around a MacOS ecosystem with custom built high density data storage for both still and moving images, with an Adobe Creative Suite workflow plus Apple’s FinalCut editing tools. Studios included near and far backups and storage for disaster recovery as well as high speed network design.

- Ed Kashi, Photo-journalist (www.edkashi.com): National Geographic, MSNBC, Travel and Leisure, self-published. Projects included covering the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Self-published work: The Oil and Politics of Nigeria, Published: India - 60 Years of Democracy (National Geographic). I designed complete image lifecycle workflow systems, processes, backups and security.
